FLEMING ISLAND – According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 34-year-old driver from Orange Park was killed when a woman entered County Road 220 from a side street and ran into him. The accident happened at 3:47 p.m. on Sunday. According to the accident report, a 20-year-old girl turned right from Lakeshore Drive in front of a pickup truck traveling west on C.R. 220. The front of her car struck the rear of the truck. FHP didn’t disclose the gender of the victim. The woman wasn’t injured, but FHP said charges are pending. more
MIDDLEBURG – A man was arrested after a security officer at Walmart said she saw him leave the store without paying for three bags of grass seed and a box of Cinnamon French Toast Strips cereal. Anthony Jerome Griffin, 42, of Orange Park, was charged with shoplifting, resisting law enforcement and resisting retail theft recovery on Aug. 16 after a loss prevention officer tried to stop him from leaving the store without paying for the items. more
