GREEN COVE SPRINGS – The City is pleased to announce the reopening of Walnut Street from Palmetto to Orange Avenue after completing major construction and improvements.

The newly refurbished street is now open to traffic, bringing enhanced safety and accessibility to our community. The construction project began in February and involved significant upgrades, including roadway reconstruction, new sidewalks, improved drainage systems, new landscaping and updated street lighting. These improvements are part of the City's ongoing commitment to maintaining and enhancing the infrastructure to serve residents and visitors better.

Assistant City Manager Mike Null is enthusiastic about the completed project, saying, “The reopening of Walnut Street is a significant milestone for our city. The improvements will facilitate smoother traffic flow and contribute to the overall safety and aesthetic appeal of our downtown area."

The city will mark the reopening with a ceremony at the corner of Walnut and Orange Avenue (U.S. Highway 17 on Friday, Aug. 2. at 5 p.m. The community is welcome to join the festivities and support local businesses.

Work is underway on Walnut to Magnolia Avenue.
