Ann Corlew
Ann Richards Corlew passed away on July 7, 2022. To many she was known as “Mustang Annie,” having a longtime love of driving her red Mustang around her hometown in Keystone Heights, Florida.
Ann was a gifted seamstress and was well known in the church community for using her creations for charity fundraising events. She loved to make stuffed rabbits and bears and sew vintage style clothing for them. By the time she was done with them they would be dressed to the nines in beautiful handmade cloths of lace, velvet and tiny pearl jewelry. Today, her beloved great grandchildren still have a collection of those beautiful stuffed animals.
Ann was a health enthusiast and loved to walk even in her 90’s but her real love was her bike. At age 64, after many months of training, Ann rode and finished the MS 150 mile bikeathon, tailed by her loving second husband, Bill Corlew, the entire way in his pickup truck. He was her biggest fan.
She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed hosting dinner parties for her lakefront neighbors. She was known for her tacos, hand stuffed devil crabs, and her families’ favorite chicken and dumplings.
Ann had a great sense of humor, which she maintained got her through life’s difficult times. She said it was a choice to dwell on things or choose to be happy. “No one ever wants to be around a crabby old person”, she used to say. She was a caregiver to the first female mayor of Keystone Heights, Florida, who told her she was the kindest person she ever knew. Her doctor too could attest to Ann’s good nature and told her she was a ‘tough old broad’ and she was very proud of that. With her sense of humor and a lifetime of immaculate oral care, she would want everyone to know that she took her teeth with her. Happy trails Mustang Annie- Rest In Peace.
She is survived by her son Scott Perritt, daughter Suzanne Perritt-Cravey, son-law Randy Cravey, grandsons John Henry Perritt and Jacob Perritt-Cravey and wife Chelsie Papiez, and great grandchildren Ellinor Rain Cravey and Baker Florencio Cravey. She was preceded in death by her second husband Bill Corlew, first husband John M. Perritt, Sr. and oldest son John M. Perritt, Jr.
