John Quentin Vye
(August 23, 1942 - June 13, 2022)
John Quentin Vye, 79, passed away on June 13, 2022 in Fleming Island, FL, after a 5-year battle with Multiple System Atrophy.
John is survived by Cheryl Vye (nee Vollmer), his wife of 55 years, his brother Malcolm Vye, nephew Jerome Vye and wife Victoria, and two great nephews, Andrew and Christopher.
John was born August 23, 1942 in Gary, IN, to parents Rosa and James Preston Vye. He graduated from Xavier University (Cincinnati, OH) and received his Master of Business Administration from Miami University (Oxford, OH). He served two years as an officer in the U.S. Army before beginning his 30-year career in marketing.
John was a life-long, avid sports fan. He played several team-sports, and never met a sporting event he didn’t like to watch (except maybe soccer). Music was a great love, as was golf. In retirement, his life revolved around golf and socializing with friends he met on the course. His was a life well-lived and loved.
An interment service will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at the Jacksonville National Cemetery. And since there was nothing that John enjoyed more than a good party, there will be a Celebration of his life around the time of his 80th birthday.
If desired, friends may make memorial donations to Safe Animal Shelter, 2913 County Road 220, Middleburg, FL 32068. Or to Multiple System Atrophy Coalition, 7918 Jones Branch Drive, Suite 300, McLean, VA 22102. Please sign the family’s online guestbook at www.broadusraines.com/obituary/john-vye

Peggy Sue Walley
Peggy Sue Walley, age 60, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2022 with her family by her side after a courageous battle with lung cancer. It would be wrong to say that Peggy Sue lost her battle because she never stopped fighting. Her strength and resilience have been an inspiration to those around her.
Peggy Sue touched the lives of so many people with her fiercely caring nature. She was the person you could call if you needed help, and she was there to give you a ride, a place to stay, or a shoulder to lean on. She had a huge heart, and never thought twice about extending a helping hand to those in need.
The simplest pleasures in life brought joy to Peggy Sue. She enjoyed spending time outdoors — taking care of her yard and extensive plant collection, walking her dog Snoopy, and going camping with her family. She cherished her role as a grandmother and had a special bond with her two grandsons. They were an unstoppable trio seeking fun and adventure every single Saturday.
Peggy Sue is survived by her two children Sara and Marcus; her two grandchildren Peyton and Mark; her daughter-in-law Faith, her step-sister Carrie; her nephews Jason, Brock, and Hunter; and her beloved pets Snoopy, Handsome, Smokey, and Killer. She is also survived by a wealth of close friends and neighbors who she considered family.
She is preceded in death by her parents Ruth and Lewis and her brothers Kenny and Gary.
A celebration of life will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at the Fellowship Hall at Grace Free Will Baptist Church.
A private memorial ceremony will be held at a later date as she enters her final resting place at the Moosehaven Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate generously to the following organizations: Safe Animal Shelter in Middleburg, FL, Haven Hospice, and the American Cancer Society.
“For as long as there is a memory of her, she lives on in our hearts.”
