Ruby L. Gilstrap
Ruby Livingston Gilstrap at the age of 92 departed peacefully and joyfully from this life and went home to be with her Savior on Jan 22, 2023.
She is survived by one brother, Leonard Livingston of Sarasota and her three boys, Harold, Vance and Alan along with their wives, 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.
Ruby was a proud 4th generation Floridian, born outside of Ocala in Reddick, Florida as the oldest girl of eight children. After moving to Jacksonville, she worked for Gulf Life Insurance and later for Dr. William H. Houston. Ruby was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Jacksonville where she sang in the choir, taught training union and met her husband R.F. Gilstrap. They were married by Dr. Homer G. Lindsay Sr., for 60 years until her husband’s passing in 2011. She was a devoted Christian, wife, and mother throughout her life. She would say to her boys, “Love God and trust in Him. No one owes you anything, so work hard and don’t quit. Follow your dreams, and remember that nothing worthwhile is easy.”
Her family and friends were always in her daily thoughts and prayers. Known as a hard worker, kind, gentle, and a friend, Ruby was loved by everyone who knew her. A celebration of life and a family reunion will be held at Silver Springs State Park, where she was baptized as a 12 year old girl, on Saturday, May 13, 2023.

Eric Anthony Johnson
Born September 8, 1965 in Dallas, Texas, Passed away February 1, 2023 in Green Cove Springs, Florida.
Eric is survived by his parents, Emily and Bill Carter of Middleburg, his two daughters, Erin Carter of Middleburg and Bethany Ward of Middleburg, his son Christopher Ansley of Texas, and his brother Keith Johnson of Euless, Texas and his son Daxxon. He has three grandchildren, Sierra, Chloe, and Harley.
Eric was a truck driver by trade. He was the former President of the Men’s Auxiliary of Middleburg VFW Post 8255.
The funeral will be held at the Middleburg United Methodist Church at 3925 Main Street on Saturday February 18, at 11a.m.

Deanna Wooley Griffis
Deanna Wooley Griffis, age 84, of Orange Park, Florida passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2023. Deanna was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia to the late Irene Lillian and Robie Evans Welsman.
She is survived by twin daughters: Irene W. (Ronnie A.) Beddard and Darlene W. (Larry R.) Dobbs. Brother, Robie N. Welsman. Sister, L. Janie Green. Three grandchildren, Mindy, Melanie and Ryan. Four Great-Grandchildren: Delaney, Annalise, Kingston and Portland.
A visitation for Deanna was held Tuesday, February 7, 2023 from 5p.m. to 7 p.m. at Hardage - Giddens Holly Hill Funeral Home, 3601 Old Jennings Road, Middleburg, FL 32068.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 8 at 1 p.m. at Hardage - Giddens Holly Hill Funeral Home burial will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park.
