Edward Gay Poole, 90, of Orange Park, Florida, passed away at home on Thursday, May 23, 2024. He was born, also at home, in Vero Beach, Florida, to Hubert T. Poole and Dorothy G. Poole, and was the younger brother of John W. Poole. Edward served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy and worked for various AT&T companies for over 36 years.

He was most proud of his family and his involvement with the Orange Park Presbyterian Church, where he sang in the choir alongside his beloved wife, Joan, for nearly 50 years. Edward also dedicated 20 years to volunteering with the Orange Park Waste Not Want Not food pantry. In addition to his volunteer work, he enjoyed singing the bass airs of Handel’s Messiah, painting in oils, golfing, restoring vintage cars, and traveling.

He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Joan Kay Poole; his children: Mark E. (Cheryl) Poole, Brenda K. (David) Daehn, Steven E. (Anne) Poole, and Bradley W. Poole; 11 grandchildren: Erica McHard, Jennifer Theurer (Karl), Chanel Cantu (Mike), Erica Poole, Clinton Poole (Timorie), Lindsey Denmark (Marty), Savannah DiEugenio (Patrick), Meagan Findeiss (Cal), Dylan Daehn (Tressa), Zachary Poole (Tere Joy), and Skylar Stafford (Brett); and 16 great-grandchildren.

When asked recently what the greatest lesson he would like to pass on to his family was, he said, "Love conquers all." Edward will be dearly missed by a host of extended friends and his family.
