Every week, Clay Today will test or enlighten your knowledge on a variety of topics. This week, the Clay County Agricultural Fair.

Staging the Fair is no small task, especially considering there are only three full-time members of the Clay County Fair Association – Executive Director Tasha Hyder, Office Manager Karen Brown and Office Assistant Jackie Collins – and the association is separate from county government. During the 11-day event, the association will rely on more than 1,000 volunteers who contribute more than 30,000 of labor, hiring more than 400 Clay County Sheriff’s Office and Fire Rescue personnel to provide security, traffic and dispatch and relying on as many as 500 along the concession midway. Throw in another 200 from Deggeller Attractions to set up and operate nearly 50 attractions, games and food booths, and it’s no wonder the Clay County Agricultural Fair is a huge success.
