CLAY COUNTY – The Clay County District Schools will host three community meetings to share information and get input on its five-year strategic plan.

The first will be at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 12, at the Keystone Heights Junior/Senior High Media Center.

The strategic plan is approved every five years. It is a process where the school district works with stakeholders to define goals and vision, along with ways to accomplish them.

Last November, the district surveyed parents, staff, students and community members across the district to better understand their priorities. From the survey results, senior leadership and the superintendent created five overarching goals for the district for the new strategic plan. Those goals are student success; talent recruitment, development and retention; family and community engagement; safe and positive learning environments; and fiscal and operational efficiency.

The strategic plan will be formatted with each goal having individual strategies and initiatives to meet the goal. The upcoming town hall meetings will be a time for Superintendent David Broskie to present some of the survey data results, explain the five upcoming goals and gather feedback from stakeholders on potential strategies and initiatives for the five goals.

From the feedback at the town hall meetings, the steering committees at the district office will begin to craft the strategies and initiatives. 

The final draft will be presented to the school board for approval in June.

The other two meetings will be on Jan. 19 at 6 p.m. at the Oakleaf High Media Center and Jan. 23 at 6 p.m. at the Fleming Island High Media Center.
