MIDDLEBURG — The Salvation Army will partner with the Clay County District Schools to host its eighth annual Back to School Outreach on Aug. 2.

The goal is to reach students experiencing homelessness, housing transition issues, or needing school supplies to start the new school year off prepared and ready to learn. Several agencies will provide valuable information to parents and caregivers about programs and services they offer to help families in our area.

The event will be at 2795 County Road 220 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

“We work closely with the principals and teachers of our district to ensure any students in need are provided with an age/grade appropriate quality backpack filled with supplies,” said Ryan Widowson, Supervisor of Project Reach.

Parents need to register students ahead of the event at bit.ly/4b0NDuX.

While supplies last, students will receive free backpacks filled with supplies for kindergarten through grade 12. There will also be free school and sports physicals for those who call ahead for appointments at (904) 276-6677 and free haircuts.

Those who pre-register at floridaheiken.org will receive a free eye exam and glasses. Others can enjoy free hot dogs, snow cones, shoes and other goodies.

Several agencies will be on hand to provide information and services about community programs.

Transportation is provided. Bus stops will be available, but you must call ahead (904) 276-6677.
