FLEMING ISLAND – Cynthia Davis, a caregiver at PruittHealth – Fleming Island, recently was named Registered Nurse of the Year by the Florida Health Care Association as part of its Excellence in Long Term Care Awards Program.

The FHCA awards honor exemplary nurses for their commitment and dedication to long-term care communities through clinical practice, person-centered care, continuous quality improvement, customer responsiveness, leadership and communication.

Davis was nominated by her administrator, Eric Weisz, because of her incredible track record in caring for long-term patients and training new PruittHealth employees.

“Cynthia successfully grew the location’s staffing and recruiting efforts during one of the most challenging and unprecedented times of the health care profession. From 2019 to 2021, she oriented and developed more than 150 employees per year at our center. Her contribution to our organization has been nothing less than outstanding,” Weisz said.

As a registered nurse in the Jacksonville area since 2013, Davis joined PruittHealth – Fleming Island before the center opened to patients in November 2018. Her experience in establishing the Fleming Island center enabled her to become a frequently tapped advisor to assist with opening and establishing standards and practices for other new PruittHealth locations in Florida.

Most days, Davis can be found interviewing and coaching caregivers, as well as ensuring each PruittHealth employee grows and succeeds in personal and professional endeavors. A proud Turkish immigrant, Davis enjoys spending time with her husband and international travel, including returning to Turkey to see family and a recent trip to Thailand.
