Orange Park Police warn of Navy Federal scam

Posted

ORANGE PARK – The Police Department is investigating fraudulent scam activities at area gas stations near Interstate 295 and U.S. Highway 17/ Park Avenue.

The suspects approach potential victims and inquire if they have a Navy Federal Bank account. They tell stories of needing money in some way or another. The suspect(s) ask for and gain access to the victims’ phones and their Navy Federal bank accounts, where they apply for a loan and transfer funds. The scheme takes only minutes to initiate and complete. Please do not fall victim to these attempts, no matter how convincing the suspects might seem.

Thus far, the suspects have all been described as black males ages 20-40.

If you have any information to assist our investigation, call the OPPD at (904) 264-5555.
