ORANGE PARK — Police Officer Jordan Fuentes was honored with the Hero of the Quarter on Friday, June 28, by OP Sunrise Rotary Secretary Steve Underwood.
In May, Fuentes was transporting a prisoner to jail with a warrant for arrest. While en route, the man told Fuentes that he had ingested fentanyl before being arrested. Fuentes began to notice the subject exhibit signs of an overdose. Fuentes immediately pulled his vehicle off the side of the highway, notified fire rescue and administered Narcan. The Narcan was successful in reversing the effects of the overdose.
The individual regained consciousness and was transported to the hospital. Had Fuentes not taken decisive and immediate action, the individual would likely have died from the dangerous drug he ingested. Therefore, Fuentes was commended by the department and was recognized by Rotary.
