GREEN COVE SPRINGS – Cowboys and cowgirls will start packing their bags and making plans for the Clay County Pro Rodeo, benefiting Clay County 4-H, on Sept. 13-14 at the Clay County Fairgrounds. The event will count toward the International Professional Rodeo Association’s International Finals Rodeo championship in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Presented by Clay Today, DARCARS Orange Park Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, Winn-Dixie and VyStar Credit Union, nearly 200 of the nation’s top rodeo stars will converge on the Cattleman’s Arena to compete in bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, bull riding, cowgirl breakaway roping, cowgirl barrel racing, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, heeler team roping and header team roping. There will be plenty of activities before the competition starts each night at 7:30, according to JC Kitaif Pro Rodeos General Manager Jade Kataif, including a mechanical bull, food truck and games. Advance tickets, which are available at rodeometro.ticketleap.com, are $15 for adults and $10 for children. Tickets at the gate are $20.
