Man facing litany of drug charges following traffic stops
MIDDLEBURG – A Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputy who saw a man run a stop sign wound up uncovering a cache of drugs on March 8.
Kristopher Daniel Hatcher, 35, of Jacksonville, now faces charges of possessing methamphetamine, fentanyl, Xanax, hydrocodone, oxycodone, Clonazepam and drug paraphernalia after K-9 Cash alerted deputies of the likely presence of illegal drugs inside the car.
When Hatcher was removed from his car, a deputy noticed a “bulge” in his left front pocket that proved to be a glass pipe. A search led to the discovery of other drugs. Hatcher told deputies he stuffed methamphetamine and fentanyl in a drink cup to conceal them.
A day later, Hatcher was booked on more drug charges as part of an ongoing investigation that started on Jan 18, when a CCSO deputy said he saw Hatcher hand a woman “clear plastic bags” at Pine Tree Lane and County Road 218.
When CCSO checked his driving record, they learned he had a suspended license. Furthermore, the license tag expired five years ago.
A search of the car uncovered fentanyl, methamphetamine, Buprenorphine and drug paraphernalia. He also was charged with driving with a suspended license.
His total bond for both cases was set at $175,034.
