ORANGE PARK – According to the preliminary results published by the Clay County Supervisor of Elections Office, Kenneth Vogel garnered 394 votes out of 530 to win the election for Seat 4 on the Orange Park Town Council.

Vogel’s opponent, Maddie Hilt, received the remaining 136 votes.

Vogel said he was out waving signs with his dad from when the polls opened at 7 a.m. until the polls closed at 7 p.m. He said he wished he remembered to wear sunscreen.

His dad was the first to tell him he won the election.

Vogel spoke to the Clay Today just afterward.

"I honestly wasn't watching the results. You either win or you don't," he said.

He thanked the Town of Orange Park.

"Thank you. It's a victory for all of us – not just me. I am excited for the town," he said.

Vogel owns Essential Electric LLC in Orange Park and is committed to keeping his hometown business and family-friendly. He says he brings a creative, outside-the-box perspective intent on bolstering the town’s community.

His campaign was built upon a range of issues, such as considering town-led ways to provide after-school programs and creative outlets for students revitalizing the town's public parks, and making them more accessible to the underprivileged.

Vogel will be joining Glenn Taylor on the town council, who won his election unopposed.
