GREEN COVE SPRINGS – Two Jacksonville men were transported from the Duval County Jail on May 15 to face murder and armed robbery charges in connection with a fatal shooting at the Reserve at Orange Park apartments on Oct. 14.

Kevin Leonard Bush, 30, and Rida Farah Hicks Jr., 20, were booked into the Clay County Jail without bond after Clay County Sheriff’s Office investigators linked the men to the shooting of Tony Matthew Ross to their cellphones. Ross was found at his front door with a gunshot to his head.

According to the affidavits for arrest warrants, Bush was in jail in Jacksonville after being arrested on a warrant for aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, while Hicks was jailed on Oct. 29 for a warrant for possession of a firearm by a delinquent juvenile who has committed a felony act.

Hicks said he was in one of two cars that was going to a drug deal.

The next court appearance for both men is June 18.
