MIDDLEBURG – September is Recovery Month, a time to celebrate those recovering from addiction or other mental health issues. Clay Behavioral Health Center has set a Recovery Celebration for Saturday, Sept. 23.
“Our theme this year is Recovery is For Everyone: Every Person, Every Family, Every Community,” said Irene Toto, CEO of Clay Behavioral. “Supporting people in recovery means lowering barriers to recovery support, creating inclusive spaces and programs, and broadening awareness of the need to reduce the stigma.
“The people in recovery need the entire community. The Recovery Celebration aims to increase awareness about the services and programs available here in Clay County. Often, individuals who experience mental health or a substance use disorder can feel isolated and alone. Yet, every year, millions of Americans experience the same thing. It is important that collectively we offer support and acceptance.”
The Recovery Celebration will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Veterans Administration Office, 400 College Dr. It will include food trucks, a live DJ, local vendors, a Wall of Remembrance and information and support from Recovery Partners.
Groups sponsor the event Recover Together and Clay County Public Safety Community Paramedicine.
