Quiet time is hard to find in our busy lives. It seems as if every day, the pace picks up. We have overloaded schedules, and an ever-increasing list of responsibilities, but always the same number of hours in a day. Smartphones, streaming services, social media, and the like all serve to cause constant distractions for us along the way. This has been the pattern of our lives for so many years we’ve become completely acclimated, even addicted, to the constant motion of it all.
We must remember, this is not how we were created to live. We were meant to create the space for solitude, meaningful relationships, and most importantly, quality time with God. We must carve out time to meditate and spend time with God. Get up a few minutes early. Turn off the distractions. Do whatever it takes to be quiet and listen. If we desire to grow in our relationship with God, and live a life pleasing to Him, it’s crucial we are intentional about creating that “space”. We must make it happen!
Psalm 19:14 says, “May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.” God did not create us to watch out lives play out from a distance. He desires nothing more than to be an intimate part of our everyday lives! He wants to share every joy with you, walk alongside you through every sorrow, and celebrate with you through every victory. This is only possible if we make the time each day to spend with Him and develop our relationship. We can find joy and peace through this practice. Psalm 1:2 says, “They [the righteous} delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night.” The more time you spend with God and meditate on His Word, the more He will come to guide your life. As you grow closer and closer to Him, living more and more by the standard of His Word, you will find undeniable joy in His presence. Start a daily practice of Bible reading, prayer, and meditation today. If you do, your relationship will bloom in ways you’ve never experienced before!
