Faith Walk: What Makes God Smile?

As believers, our personal relationship with God is very intimate and special. God wants to be part of our lives and walk alongside us through everything we experience. There’s a reason that we so often speak of our relationship with Him in a Father/child dynamic. God wishes to be as close, or even closer to us, than our very own fathers!

That means that He loves us, cares for us, provides for us, and guides us through every step of our journey. And just like a dad does, He takes great joy in seeing us live and grow with happiness, peace, and joy. Just as it brings a smile to a parent's face to see their children thrive and be successful, so too does God simply enjoy the pleasure of watching us grow! Psalm 149:4 says, “For the LORD takes delight in His people; He crowns the humble with victory” (NIV).

Because of God’s great love for us, He doesn’t hesitate to grant us immeasurable blessings in life. Luke 12:32 says, “So don’t be afraid, little flock. For it gives your Father great happiness to give you the Kingdom” (NLT). Not only does God give us great blessings in this life, but He has promised us eternity by His side in His everlasting Kingdom!

It also makes the Lord happy when we trust Him, obey Him, and put Him in the number one spot in our hearts. Psalm 147:11 says, “The LORD favors those who fear and worship Him [with awe-inspired reverence and obedience], Those who wait for His mercy and lovingkindness” (AMP). God wants us to love, trust, and follow Him just as a child would their Father. He knows what’s best for us and will lead us to the fullness of the potential He has placed within us from the beginning.

So, do you ever wonder what makes God smile? Knowing His children personally and seeing them thrive. Devote your life to God and invite Him into your heart. He will be overjoyed to take up residence there and share your life with you.
