27 “I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me? Jeremiah 32:27 (NIV)
Throughout the Bible, we see miraculous things happening by the power of God. The Red Sea is parted to save the Israelites, Jesus raises Lazurus from the dead, Jesus and the disciples are healing the sick, and many other examples that are too numerous to list. In the Scriptures, we often see God working in the lives of people in dramatic and astonishing ways!
When reading these stories in the Bible, some may be confused because they don’t see God working exactly this way in their own life. This contrast causes many people to ask the question, “Does God still perform miracles today?”
The short answer is simple: YES, He does! But there’s more to it. First, we must realize the timing of the miracles we see in the Bible and the purpose that God used them for. Hebrews 2:4 says, “God confirmed the message by giving signs and wonders and various miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit whenever he chose.” (NLT).
Everything in the Old Testament was leading to the arrival of Jesus and what He did at the cross. Jesus brought the message of the Gospel, through which we find salvation. The signs and miracles performed during this time in human history were to point to Jesus. This also proved Jesus was who He said He was. It confirmed the Gospel message He brought with Him.
Yes, God absolutely performs miracles today! They may not always come in the way we expect, but rest assured, God will not withhold ANY of His power to better the lives of His children! He is constantly working in our lives in both big and small ways. But make no mistake, the power of God brings healing, deliverance, and freedom in 2022 just as it did in the First Century. If you are facing something that seems impossible, it is not out of the reach of God’s power.
Jesus said in Mark 10:27 (NLT), “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But not with God. Everything is possible with God.” You can build your life on that truth!
