In times of uncertainty, doubt, difficulty and even despair, we can be comforted in knowing that our assurance comes from the finished work of Jesus on the cross and the empty tomb. These two profound events in Christian faith serve as pillars of hope, reminding us of the promises Jesus has made to us.
Firstly, Jesus assured us that He has prepared a place for us. In John 14:2-3, Jesus says, "In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also."
This promise brings peace, knowing that a magnificent reunion awaits us who follow Jesus. A promise that includes being in the presence of an all loving God for eternity. A promise of a permanent home in a perfect place, heaven.
Secondly, we have the assurance that Jesus is coming back. Despite the chaos and turmoil in the world, we hold onto the hope of His return. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 declares, "For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord."
This promise fills us with anticipation and joy, knowing that one day Jesus will set all things right and establish His eternal kingdom. No matter how dire things may seem, our assurances are grounded in the unfailing love and promises of Jesus.
He has conquered sin, death, and the grave! He will fulfill every word He has spoken. Be encouraged to hold fast to these assurances, finding strength and hope in the finished work of Jesus Christ.
