LAKE ASBURY – Former Clay County Commission Chairman Gayward Hendry will open his farm to the public on Saturday for his annual Gane Grinding Festival.
Hendry will show the process of turning cane into syrup at his ranch at 577 Branscomb Road from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event also features farm tours, including animals, a wooden smokehouse and cane presses that create Hendry’s Ol’ Kelsey’s Sugar Cane Syrup.
While other items will be on the buffet, Hendry said the featured lunch items will be fried flounder and swamp cabbage.
The event is free.
