FLEMING ISLAND – Dr. Jeremy Goodman, MD, MBA, FACHE, CPE, FACS, is joined Baptist Health in the newly created role of vice president and system quality officer.

In his new role, Dr. Goodman will support and implement Baptist Health’s plans for continued quality and clinical excellence at all Baptist facilities, including Baptist Medical Center Clay.

He will oversee the effectiveness of clinical management, patient safety and performance improvement, and help develop and strengthen clinical and physician collaboration across the health system to ensure effective clinical integration. He will report to Dr.Timothy Groover, senior vice president and system chief medical officer of Baptist Health.

“Dr. Goodman brings a wealth of experience to Baptist Health, and we are excited to have him join our team,” said Dr. Groover. “He is a highly accomplished physician executive with a significant background in process improvement and clinical care design. He has worked with physicians, nurses and administration across disciplines to drive clinical excellence and improve outcomes. He will play a vital role in ensuring continued clinical excellence across the system and will build upon our culture of promoting healthcare equity through quality and safety standards.

Dr. Goodman comes to Baptist Health after six years at Banner-University Medical Center Phoenix, Arizona’s largest hospital. He served as chief medical officer for the flagship medical center of an integrated health system that includes 28 hospitals, urgent care, health plans, post-acute services and multiple medical groups.

Before this, he was chief medical officer for Banner Estrella Medical Center, a 317-bed community hospital in Phoenix. Dr. Goodman also held critical roles in transplant surgery, including serving as associate professor, attending surgeon and fellowship director of Abdominal Transplant Surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and transplant surgeon and surgical director of the Living Kidney Donor Program at Birmingham VA Medical Center.

He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Yale University and his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Southern California. He also has a Master of Business Administration from Auburn University.
