20 arrested statewide in Medicaid fraud

CLAY COUNTY – The officials recently arrested 20 people, including three from Clay County, in a fraudulent transportation scheme that caused more than $5 million in losses to the Florida Medicaid program. An investigation uncovered the defendants operated a nonemergency medical transportation service that billed Medicaid for thousands of trips never provided.

20 arrested statewide in Medicaid fraud

CLAY COUNTY – The officials recently arrested 20 people, including three from Clay County, in a fraudulent transportation scheme that caused more than $5 million in losses to the Florida Medicaid program.

An investigation uncovered the defendants operated a nonemergency medical transportation service that billed Medicaid for thousands of trips never provided. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office arrested three of the defendants who reside in Clay County: Martha Gloria Guevara Paz, 68; Yilber Ricardo Martinez Quintero, 39; and Astrid Viviana Lineros Orjuela, 34.

The case will be prosecuted by Attorney General Moody’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit through an agreement with Melissa Nelson, State Attorney for the Fourth Judicial Circuit.
