ORANGE PARK Resident Rosanelle Pentecost celebrated a milestone on Tuesday.

To ring in her 100th birthday, Pentecost's friends, family and neighbors joined her for the special occasion, bringing laughter and music along with them.

In mingling and reminiscing with Pentecost, the afternoon was filled with much joy. Pentecost said it was great to see all her loved ones show up for her.

“It’s wonderful,” Pentecost said. “I like having company.”

With a surprise visit, Sheriff Michelle Cook also stopped by the party to give Pentecost her well wishes.

To start the party, neighbor Dan Smith graced Pentecost with a guitar solo of "Happy Birthday," and "Let Me Call You Sweetheart." Pentecost clapped and sang along as everyone in the room did too.

Following that, her and her guests helped themselves to some celebratory cake and punch.

Although she is an Indiana native, Pentecost said that when she became a navy wife she traveled a lot, eventually landing here in Clay County back in 1999. She said she has been here ever since.

Pentecost is a devoted Christian woman with two children, one grandchild and five great-grandchildren.

As a former girl scout, piano player and organ player, Pentecost also had a number of hobbies and interests. She said she still enjoys playing with jigsaw puzzles in her free time.

And Pentecost doesn’t let her age slow her down. She said she still drives around in her car.

“I get out as much as I can,” Pentecost said.

Even with celebrating her 100th birthday, Pentecost said she looks forward to her next goal.

“Trying to get to 101,” Pentecost said.
