CLAY COUNTY – The National Weather Service has issued a minor flooding forecast for the South Fork of Black Creek near Penney Farms from Tuesday morning to Wednesday morning as Hurricane/Tropical Storm Debby passes Northeast Florida.
At 10 feet, residents should start preparing to protect their property if water levels continue to rise. At 14.5 feet, low-lying driveways and access roads along Creek Street, Black Creek Drive and Lightning Lane, docks and other low-lying structures along the creek should begin to flood. At 16 feet, flooding of low-lying structures along Creek Street will begin and Creek Stree and driveways leading to Black Creek Drive may become impassible. Movement of property to higher ground may be recommended.
At 9:30 a.m. Sunday, the flood stage was 2.3 feet. The creek is expected to rise above flood stage late Tuesday morning to a crest of 14.9 feet early. The flood stage for Black Creek is 14.5 feet.
