One of the greatest gifts God has given us is free will. This incredible gift allows us to make our own choices—whether they are good, great, bad, or terrible. These choices, made through our free will, are what shape our lives and the world around us.

Galatians 5:13 reminds us, “For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.” God gave us free will so that we could choose to live in His freedom, not in bondage to sin.

Our free will explains the brokenness we see in the world today. Bad choices can lead to pain and suffering, but God has given us a way to navigate through this. John 8:36 tells us, “So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.” True freedom comes from choosing God and living according to His guidance. This is the freedom that makes sense in a world that often doesn’t.

God will guide us, but we must choose to follow Him. If we use our free will to choose God, we can live in the freedom He offers—a freedom that transcends the chaos of this world and brings peace to our souls. Psalm 119:45 says, “I will walk in freedom, for I have devoted myself to your commandments.” When we choose God’s way, we experience a life of true freedom, one that is grounded in His love and truth.

Free will is also about how our decisions impact others. The choices we make ripple out, affecting the people around us in ways we might not always see or understand. When we choose to act out of selfishness or anger, those decisions can bring harm and hurt to others. But when we choose to love, serve, and follow God’s commandments, we can be a force for good in the world, reflecting God’s love and bringing His peace into our relationships and communities.

The power of free will is both a responsibility and a privilege. It’s a reminder that our lives are not just our own, but rather interconnected with those around us. As we grow in our relationship with God, our free will aligns more with His will, leading us to make choices that honor Him and bless others. This is the true essence of living free, using our God-given liberty to glorify Him and build up those around us.
