Groundbreaking ceremony set for Lifeline Landing in GCS

GREEN COVE SPRINGS — Operation Lifeline Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing safe, accessible and affordable housing for veterans and low-income families, is pleased to announce the groundbreaking ceremony for its new affordable housing subdivision, Lifeline Landing.

The ceremony will occur on Sept. 6 at 11 a.m. on the corner of Kirk and Harring streets in Green Cove Springs. This event marks the beginning of a significant development aimed at creating five affordable homes for veterans and families in need within the community.

Lifeline Landing will include five homes built using funding from the Clay County Housing Finance Authority and the State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) Program. The Clay County Housing Finance Authority provides financial assistance to support affordable housing projects, ensuring that low — and moderate-income families have access to safe and affordable homes. The SHIP Program, a state-funded initiative, offers financial assistance to local governments to create partnerships that provide affordable housing to very low — and moderate-income families.

By combining these resources, Lifeline Landing will provide much-needed housing solutions for veterans and families who might otherwise struggle to find affordable housing.

Executive Director and Founder of Operation Lifeline Inc., Erick Saks expressed his excitement for the project.

"Lifeline Landing represents our commitment to providing affordable housing options to those who have served our country and others in need. We are proud to partner with local agencies and the community to make this vision a reality," Saks said.

"This groundbreaking is more than just a construction milestone. It's a testament to what we can achieve when we work together as a community to support our veterans and low-income families. We're building not just homes but opportunities for a better future," he added.

Lifeline Landing represents a significant effort to address the housing needs of Clay County, particularly for veterans and low-income families. This event provides an opportunity for the community to come together, learn more about the project, and support the mission of Operation Lifeline Inc.

Founded in 2022, Operation Lifeline Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Northeast Florida.
