Fleming Island gets swim shut out

FLEMING ISLAND - With wins in all event, Fleming Island High's boys and girls swim teams scored a rare shutout in a dual meet with Middleburg at the Barco-Newton YMCA.
With double wins from sophomore William Shoesmith; in the 200 individual medley by 28 seconds in 2:02.23 and the 100 butterfly by 11 seconds in 56.33, Fleming Island's boys team won 131-34.
For the girls, Katelyn Moore was victorious in the two events also; the 50 free in 27.16 and the 100 freestyle in 59.84.
The Fleming Island girls won 144-30.
Middleburg had top finishes from, in the 500 free; Landyn Johnson with a second in 6:29.25 and, for the girls, Zoe Grace Denton, fourth in 7;02.90. Other top finishes were Kenzie McCool, fourth in the 50 free, and, for the boys, Sawyer Hampton with a third in the 100 free in 1:01.22. Middleburg senior Tyler Crook got fourth in the 100 breaststroke with Alyssa Crook taking fourth in the 100 breaststroke also.
