Badcock furniture store in Green Cove to soon rebrand

GREEN COVE SPRINGS GCS Badcock Home Furniture & more will be receiving a future rebranding.

The furniture store’s parent company, Conn’s HomePlus, has recently filed for bankruptcy, forcing the closure of many locations. Conn’s purchased the W.S. Badcock brand in December of last year.

Regional manager Steven Anderson said although the Green Cove Springs location will not be moving or closing, they may be seeing some changes in the future.

“We are working on rebranding now to move out from under their ownership,” Anderson said.

Through Oct. 31, the store will be having a liquidation sale. Everything in the store will be anywhere from 30 to 50 percent off.

“If they want to get a good deal, now’s the best time to come in and get it,” Anderson said.

Anderson added that the prices may lower even more closer to the October date.

The rebranding could also come with a name change, although Anderson said he is unsure if that will happen. He said the store will carry a lot of the same type of merchandise, just under another private corporation.

“It could still be under the Badcock name. It could be under a different name,” Anderson said. “But it’ll be the same service that we’ve always given.”

This news comes just months after the Green Cove Springs location received recognition for making the second-highest earnings in the entire chain, which spans 380 outlets in the Southeast.

Anderson said the store appreciates the support from the community and says the store will come out of this better than before.
