A resident wanted to know if there happened to be an update on the opening of the Waffle House restaurant located near College Drive, where Sonic Drive-In once existed.
Although the building seems complete, decked with seating and a bright-yellow sign to match, it has sat vacant for months.
Clay Today first broke the news of the 24-hour breakfast chain's incoming status back in January 2024.
After some research and calling the Waffle House corporate offices, I wasn't able to receive an exact answer to this question. I also reached out to a local construction superintendent, who corporate said may have been involved with the project; however, there was no response.
So, as of now, there is no date of opening that I could find. However, I will continue to monitor for updates.
