Man charged with attempted murder after domestic violence shooting
ORANGE PARK – A 29-year-old man was arrested on Thursday, Oct. 29, after a Clay County Sheriff’s Office investigation determined he violated an injunction for protection for domestic violence by firing a handgun and rifle toward a man who was in the passenger seat of his estranged wife’s car.
Christopher De’Mon Bouie, of Orange Park, was transported from the Duval County Jail to face attempted first-degree murder, two counts of child cruelty and the use of a firearm during domestic dispute charges.
According to a heavily redacted affidavit for arrest report, the incident occurred on Sept. 18. CCSO said Bouie also shot at the car in the presence of his two children. The final injunction for protection specifically ordered him from possessing a firearm.
Bouie’s next court appearance was scheduled for Nov. 23. Until then, he will remain at the Clay County Jail without bond.
Green Cove teen charged with having child, animal sex on cellphones
GREEN COVE SPRINGS – A year-long investigation by the Green Cove Springs Police Department and the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office led to the arrest of a 19-year-old man for nine counts of possessing obscene material of child sexual activity, use of two-way communication device to facilitate felony and three counts of possessing image/video/film of animal sex.
According to two arrest reports and an affidavit for arrest, police started looking into three mobile phones belonging to Noah Jayden Cooke, of Green Cove Springs, on July 31, 2025, after GCSPD received a tip from Google that one of their account holders was possibly in possession of child sexual abuse material. A search warrant was issued on Sept. 15, and files were uploaded for evidence. Judge Steven Whittington issued a warrant on Oct. 29.
Cooke’s bond was set at $1,275,039. His next court appearance will be on Dec. 1.
CCSO deputy arrested following 'physical' altercation with family
GREEN COVE SPRINGS – A Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputy was arrested on Sunday, Nov. 1, after other deputies responded to a disturbance that “became physical.”
Claude Calvin Hurley III was charged with two counts of simple domestic violence after CCSO said Hurley may have been intoxicated when he grabbed food from another family member and threw it across the room before he shoved the victim several times as they tried to leave. Recorded video footage confirmed the confrontation and showed Hurley yelling in an angered state. Another family member tried to intervene, but that member was pushed, too.
According to a release from the sheriff’s office, neither family members were injured.
Hurley was interviewed, and he ultimately was arrested. He was placed on administrative leave.
His bond was set at $2,004. His next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 30.
Also included in the release was the following statement:
“Acts of domestic violence are unacceptable and will not be tolerated – especially when committed by an individual entrusted to wear our badge. The badge we wear demands the highest level of responsibility and integrity. These actions fall short of that standard, and we will not shy away from transparency and accountability. We strongly encourage anyone experiencing domestic violence to seek help and support by contacting the Clay County Sheriff’s Office using 9-1-1 or our non-emergency line at (904) 264-6512, or you can submit a tip for our deputies to follow up using our SaferWatch app. You can also call Quigley House at (904) 284-0061.”

MIDDLEBURG – A traffic stop led to the arrest of a Jacksonville woman for possessing eight illegal substances and drug paraphernalia on Friday, Oct. 30.

K-9 Deputy Mak conducted a free air sniff of the car after Galloway and her daughter were removed from the car. An eventual search uncovered 2.94 grams of fentanyl, .89 grams of cocaine, .71 grams of MDMA, a marijuana joint and two straws that tested positive for narcotics.
After she arrived at the Clay County Jail, a body scan revealed she had amphetamine, dextroamphetamine, oxycodone, morphine and alprazolam hidden in a container that was in a body cavity. She was also charged with introducing contraband into the jail.
Her bond was set at $56,525.
