ORANGE PARK — Months after permanently shutting its doors, it looks like Tom and Betty's Restaurant is being replaced by another eatery, but with an island twist.
The Cuban Place is coming soon to 2134 Park Ave., according to a sign plastered outside the building's window. The Jacksonville-based restaurant, established in 2014, specializes in a variety of authentic dishes, including: ropa vieja, sandwiches, chicken empanadas, roasted pork and picadillo. There is an additional location on San Jose Boulevard.
There is no confirmed opening date for the restaurant.
Tom and Betty's announced its closing in early June. The 54-year-old iconic diner was known for its car-themed atmosphere and sandwiches. The restaurant was originally located at Roosevelt Square before moving to Orange Park in 2017.
