FLEMING ISLAND — There are multiple new businesses currently in the works set to hit the island soon.
Sun and Steam Seafood Pots on Village Square Parkway is one of them. Get ready for a seafood boil made easy with fresh pots packed with coastal flavor.
Customers will be able to order ahead, add extras and choose a pickup time. Their pot is then packed, chilled and stored. Loaded with easy instructions, they can be easily steamed up and enjoyed in little time.
Menu items include a Low Country Steamer, Oyster Cove Steamer, the Skipper's Steamer and Claudia's Clam Bake. Additionally, there will be seasonal offerings celebrating local catches, such as crawfish boils, Key West pinks and king crabs. There is no official opening date available, however, the store has indicated that equipment is arriving and the walls are being painted inside the store.
Not too far away, a Wawa will be making its grand entrance at 2357 Village Square Parkway near Mr. Chubby's Wings. Plans for the 5,195-square-foot gas station, convenience store began in 2023. The Fleming Island location will have eight gas pumps and a total of 16 vehicle fueling stations.
Five Below at 1991 East-West Pkwy. is currently accepting job applications in preparation for its grand opening. The 7,999-square-foot-building will be a specialty discount gift shop, offering trendy, affordable items priced at $5 or less.
A 5,000-square-foot Grumpy's will also be opening at 1803 East-West Parkway sometime in July, according to earlier reports. The restaurant will include a full bar and a free arcade.
