Unreadable motorcycle tag triggers trafficking meth arrest
MIDDLEBURG – A traffic stop for an unreadable motorcycle tag led to the eventual arrest of a man for armed trafficking of methamphetamine on Tuesday, Dec. 2.
Robert Erston McCullar, 50, of Middleburg, was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and fentanyl with intent to sell and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon when he was stopped on Alligator Boulevard after a Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputy noticed his tag was tucked under the rear tail fender.
After searching McCullar rendered negative results, the deputy opened a black bag on the back of his motorcycle. A pink plastic bag fell out, and it contained several clear plastic baggies, a scale, another bag with clear baggies with rock-like substances, another small pink zip lock bag with folded aluminum foil pieces and four pills.
The rock-like substances tested positive for methamphetamine, weighing 15.4 grams. The aluminum foil was packed with a total of 3.1 grams of fentanyl and the pills were identified as Hydromorphone.
Before he was placed in a CCSO squad car, deputies discovered a handgun on the ground where he was standing.
His bond was set at $450,009.
