Green Cove Springs man charged with ‘touching’ girl, 12 or younger

GREEN COVE SPRINGS – A 32-year-old man was arrested on Friday, Oct. 23, after an investigation led the Clay County Sheriff’s Office to charge him with two counts of lewd or lascivious behavior of a child 12 or younger.

According to a heavily redacted affidavit for arrest report, a CCSO detective investigated claims that Demetrius Justin Rosado, of Green Cove Springs, inappropriately touched a girl who was 12 or younger and told her to touch him back on June 29 or 30.

Detectives interviewed Rosado on Aug. 25, and, according to the affidavit, he contradicted himself with an explanation. Task Force deputies made the arrest at his home.

Rosado, whose next court appearance will be on Nov. 23, has a $50,000 bond.

Keystone Heights woman charged with lewd or lascivious behavior of boy

KEYSTONE HEIGHTS – A 25-year-old woman was charged with a 2023 lewd or lascivious behavior of a boy who was 16 or younger at the time.

Marlana Marie Adkins, of Keystone Heights, was arrested on Thursday, Oct. 22, after the investigation led the Clay County Sheriff’s Office to believe she was involved in an incident with the boy on Dec. 9, 2023.

On Dec. 18, 2024, detectives were interviewing the boy about an unrelated case when they were told of the Dec. 9 incident. CCSO was also interviewing Adkins about the fraudulent use of someone else’s ATM card without his knowledge. The card was taken from the victim’s mailbox.

Adkins eventually pleaded guilty to illegally using someone else’s credit card. The boy was being questioned about a fight that included Adkins and another man, Noah Devonte Barnett. That investigation led to battery and criminal mischief charges against Barnett.

Detectives linked statements made by the boy and Adkins, and an arrest warrant was issued.

Adkins’ bond was set at $50,000. Her next court appearance will be on Nov. 23.
