FLEMING ISLAND –What’s New on Pine Avenue, Fleming Island? Yes, there is lots of road construction going on, but this is something else. About three months ago 35 people got together to try to form a new church.
After lots of prayer, we felt God confirming that it was actually possible. That’s where Pine Avenue came in. The Episcopal Diocese of Florida agree to lease part of St. Margarets Episcopal Church at 6865 Pine Avenue to us. We are now leasing the Fellowship Hall. And so we became the Trinity Community Church of Fleming Island.
Just this past month we were welcomed into the GMC – The Global Methodist Church which is worldwide, and a completely new denomination, that started on May 1, 2022. We are excited to be one of the first churches certified in the state of Florida. We have been blessed along the way many times. We are thrilled that Rev. Mason Dorsey agreed to serve as our pastor.
At the same time, a large church in Jacksonville donated many items, saving us thousands of dollars. The Florida Chapter of the Wesleyan Covenant Association has given us six months worth of rent. Our first worship service was on July 3, 2022.
We have already begun to grow, and we trust God will provide continual support.
If you have never been to church or are looking for a new church, we would be happy to welcome you as you try us out. Join us worship at 9:30 on Sunday and will soon add another at 11:00.
We offer a contemporary service with a traditional, Bible-based message. Or try one of our several small groups. We have a nursery, children’s church, and many outreach opportunities, recently volunteering with the Salvation Army passing out backpacks to children.
In the coming weeks join us for a “run-walk club” on Monday evenings, and the “world’s okayest Kubb players” on Thursdays. Look for our signs, visit www.trinitycc-fi.org, or come by and see us.
