GREEN COVE SPRINGS – The Vineyard Transitional Center will host its Boston Butt fundraising prelaunch party on Sept. 16 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the facility’s future home that’s dedicated to providing life skill training, housing and counseling to former inmates from the Clay County Jail.

The Boston Butt Cookoff is one of Vineyard’s most-popular fundraisers. Last year, the nonprofit sold more than 600 to support the fundraising project to build a new center at 518 Pine St.

The kickoff launch will include a free lunch of pork sliders and side dishes. Singer/songwriter Ashton Taylor will perform music.

Patrons will be able to pre-order their smoked Thanksgiving Boston Butts.
