Rhode Island man charged with extorting minor girl for sex videos

GREEN COVE SPRINGS – A Rhode Island man was charged on Thursday, Feb. 12, following an exhaustive investigation launched by the Green Cove Springs Police Department that ended with multiple child pornography charges.

Justin Daniel Adkins, 29, of West Warwick, Rhode Island, was charged with inciting a child to perform sex, 13 counts of possession materials depicting sexual performance by a child and the use of a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony after a girl reported to the GCSPD that she had been extorted to sending videos of her to a man and possibly sex trafficked.

According to a 12-page affidavit for an arrest report, the investigation began on Jan. 10, 2025, when the girl was 16. During the reported online sexual abuse, Adkins sent her a new cellphone so she could produce higher quality CSAM photos and videos. The report stated Adkins also sent “selfies” of himself to her.

A background check revealed Adkins had been charged with two counts of second-degree child molestation in Rhode Island last May. That case is still pending.

GCSPD asked a Special Agent with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to assist since that agency is assigned to the Violent Crime Unit and is an investigator for Internet Crimes Against Children. The FDLE agent also is a Federal Task Force Officer with Homeland Security Investigations and is assigned with INTERCEPT.

Investigators gained access to Adkins’ Snapchat account “thresherinbound” and found more than 20 “extremely graphic videos” that appeared to be self-recorded and sent to Adkins. In all, there were more than 10,000 media files in his account, according to the affidavit.

Adkins was arrested in Cranston, Rhode Island, and transported back to Clay County on Feb. 11.

His bond was set at $1,125,045.

CCSO: Drunken man causes serious wrong-way crash on CR 220

FLEMING ISLAND – A 27-year-old man who had just left a bar on County Road 220 was arrested for several driving under the influence-related charges after the Clay County Sheriff’s Office said he drove across the median and caused a head-on collision at Old Hard Road on Thursday, Feb. 12.

Travis Emmanuel Fletcher, of Green Cove Springs, was charged with reckless driving causing serious bodily injury, reckless driving with injury or property damage, DUI with serious injury, DUI with injury or property damage, DUI with a blood alcohol level of .15 or greater with a passenger younger than 18 and driving the wrong way on a divided roadway after he ran through a red light and drove head-on into a car, which caused a second car to drive into the pileup.

The driver of the second car was seriously injured, according to CCSO. It took Fire Rescue 30 minutes to cut him from his vehicle. He suffered a punctured chest wound, two fractured bones in his left forearm, a fractured bone in his left hand, femur, tibia and fibula, a fractured hip, multiple nasal bone fractures and a missing tooth.

Fletcher failed his field sobriety test and was taken to the Clay County Jail, where a BAL test revealed in alcohol level was .178 and .170. The legal maximum level in Florida is .08.

Fletcher’s bond was set at $185,012. His next court appearance was set for March 17.

Mother’s Day carjackers sentenced to federal prison

FORT MYERS – Miranda Lee Pryor, 39, of Orange Park, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Sheri Polster Chappell to 10 years and five months in federal prison for her role in a May 2025 armed carjacking in Lehigh Acres. Pryor pleaded guilty on Oct. 29 to carjacking, brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence and possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.

Her co-defendant, Rebecca Lea Stacey, 36, of West Palm Beach, was previously sentenced to 10 years and 10 months in federal prison in connection with the same case. U.S. Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe made the announcement.

According to court records, on the afternoon of May 11, Stacey and Pryor carjacked a man waiting in his vehicle outside a store in Lehigh Acres. During the carjacking, Pryor brandished a firearm as the pair stole the victim’s vehicle and sped away from the scene. Later that afternoon, after law enforcement located the vehicle on Interstate 75, Stacey, who was driving the vehicle, led police on a high-speed chase on the interstate through Collier County, eventually losing control and crashing the vehicle.

Stacey and Pryor were quickly apprehended by law enforcement following the accident. During the chase, Pryor, the front-seat passenger, tossed the firearm out the window of the stolen car, which was later recovered on the side of the highway.

This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Highway Patrol.

It was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Simon Eth and Kevin Huguelet.
