CLAY COUNTY – Officials from Orange Park and Green Cove Springs planted trees on Friday, Jan. 20, to celebrate Arbor Day. In Orange Park, Mayor Randy delivered official opening remarks Rob Bradley Conservation Park at Nelson Point, with Doctor's Lake serving as a beautiful, picturesque backdrop setting. Town officials then planted a cedar tree. At Vera Francis Hall Park in Green Cove Springs, Development Services Director Mike Daniels spoke before a holly tree was planted at the front entrance. The tree was dedicated to Elaine Townsend and Anita Newport, Garden Club of Green Cove Springs members who recently died. Arbor Day is celebrated on different days around the county, Florida traditionally sets aside a day to plant trees and expand environmental education on the third Friday of January.
