Caeleb Dressel inched closer to the championship level with a third-place finish in the U.S. Olympic Trials 100 freestyle semifinal with a 2024 personal best time of 47.53 in Tuesday's races in Indianapolis. Dressel, the American record holder with a 46.96 set in 2019, surged in the final 25 meters to capture third place just behind top seed Jack Alexy of California and Chris Guiliano of Pennsylvania who had the top time of 47.25. Alexy held off Dressel to get second in 47.33. The 100 freestyle final is scheduled for Wednesday, June 19 as the last final of the night (around 9:30 p.m.) on the Peacock channel and NBC Sports.
