ORANGE PARK – Oakleaf Junior High School's girls and boys track teams won 12 combined individual and relay titles en route to the North East Florida Athletic Conference Junior High Track and Field title on Friday at Orange Park High School. Oakleaf's girls team outdid Lakeside with 103.5 points to Lakeside's 82 while the Yellow Jacket boys won with 124 points over Lakeside's 65.

Oakleaf's boys team won seven gold medals with sprinter Denali Lindo beating Green Cove Springs' Caleb Ferreira in the 100 meter dash with an 11.87 second win to Ferreira's 11.99. Ferreira returned later in the meet to win the 200 in 24.27 of Oakleaf's Ricky Embry by just .02 seconds.

In the boys field events, Oakleaf went three for three with Donovan Thomas winning the high jump at 5'-4", Lindo winning the long jump at 18'-11.75" and Jalen Rivers winning the shot put at 47'-5". Lakeside's Ryan Baumgartener won the discus with a 111'-3" toss.

For the girls, the matchup of the day featured distance runners Mia Perez of Oakleaf and Jordan Detwiler of Lakeside who traded off strong finishing kicks in the 1600 won by Perez in 5:44.60 with Detwiler second at 5:49.34 and the 800 won by Detwiler in 2:37.41 with Perez just .47 seconds on her heels.

In the boys 1600, Oakleaf's Kaden Elmore won by two seconds over teammate Dylan Nelson in 5:10.70 to Nelson's 5:12.05. Nelson finished fifth in the 800 to winner William Stack of Bradford who ran 2:24.86.

Oakleaf's girls relay teams dominated with wins in all three events; 4 x 100, 4 x 400 and 4 x 800.

The team scores for the girls went Oakleaf, Lakeside, Wilkinson (61), Lake Asbury (34.5), Green Cove Springs (30), Bradford (21) and Orange Park (9). For the boys, Oakleaf, Lakeside, Lake Asbury (41.5), Orange Park (39), Wilkinson (30.5), Bradford (27) and Green Cove Springs (11).
