FLEMING ISLAND - The Clay County District Schools recognized four perfectly punctual students during its Thursday, June 6, meeting: Eli Dodson from Fleming Island Elementary, Rikki Blaylock from Ridgeview High, and Tyler Clark and Taylor Clark from McRae Elementary.
No sick days. No tardies. No absences. Only a perfect attendance record, a notable achievement considering hundreds of boaters called out of work during Boater Skip Day last Friday.
Eli, Tyler and Taylor have a perfect attendance streak spanning seven years, since kindergarten.
"It takes years to build a reputation but one day to destroy it," Eli said. "The award means very much to me since it reflects all the time I have spent learning. The way I achieved the award was just by luck for the first couple of years but then I got serious and thought how far I had come and that I couldn’t quit now."
Rikki graduated with perfect attendance, an unbroken streak spanning 13 years from kindergarten to her senior year.
