MHS Mussante earns 10Km All-South Region selection

Posted

NEW ORLEANS – Florida Southern College junior track athletes Emma Mussante and Mya Stam of the Florida Southern College women's track team were recently named U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-South Region in the 10,000m. This marks the first All-Region honors in track for both Mussante and Stam while Mussante is a two-time All-South Region performer in cross country including this past season.
Mussante is a Middleburg High School graduate in Clay County, FL.
The top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region's top-3 relay teams. The regions used for this award – Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast and West – match those used during the cross-country season.
Stam ran the fastest 10K on the team this past season as she posted her season-best performance at the Leopard Distance Carnival in La Verne, Calif. The junior completed the distance in 36:45.72, good for the second-fastest time in program history. Mussante earned the second-fastest 10K time on the team in 2024 as she led the squad at the Embry-Riddle Running Elements Classic while turning in a time of 37:02.89.
The pair become the fourth and fifth members of the Florida Southern women's track program to earn All-Region honors. FSC placed two on the All-Region squad in 2019 as Hannah Flemming (2018-21) earned honors in both the 1,500m and 5,000m while Ysabella Guerra (2018-21) picked up an honor in the 10,000m. Ellie Fluman (2021-present) was the most recent All-Region honoree as she was a 10,000m performer in 2022.
