Man charged with soliciting detective pretending to be child
ORANGE PARK – A Jacksonville man was arrested on Aug. 8 after the Clay County Sheriff’s Office’s Internet Crimes Against Children unit said he used his computer to transmit obscene material to a detective he believed was a child.
Eric Edward Green, 55, was charged with distribution, showing and transmitting obscene material to a minor, using a computer to solicit or lure a child by misrepresenting his age and using a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony after CCSO said an investigation revealed messages and photos were sent on March 17, 2023.
According to the heavily redacted affidavit for an arrest report, Green told detectives he thought texts were part of a scam. However, CCSO said that didn’t explain why he sent inappropriate pictures of himself to the “child.”
The sheriff’s office confirmed the messages came from his cellphone.
His bond was set at $150,009.
