The free local event, Family Sunday Fun Day will be taking place on Sept. 15 at the Mandarin Community Club from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Hosted by Fleming Island-based A Book to Grow On, LLC, the event will kick off a new book with a profound impact on the Northeast Florida area. It will feature fun, relationship-building, fall-themed activities, games, music, speakers and readings.
Local author Joan T. Warren will present her novel The Bent Tree Path, Book One: A Secret Trail of Tears. This historical fiction novel highlights the journey of two women in two 20th-century timelines fighting a battle to save themselves and their children. Warren will provide a reading of the novel, a discussion and discounted sales.
Open to the public, the event will be offering families and the community an opportunity to end the weekend feeling empowered, safer and healthier.
The event will also include the presence of local organizations that support victims of abuse and neglect. They will offer brochures, speakers and tools for those who need them. An officer will give a presentation on “stranger danger” between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Food trucks will also be onsite, offering provisions at their usual cost.
