Viens recognized as scholar-athlete of the year

MARSHALL, Mo. - Missouri Valley College athletic teams have produced 25 Daktronics NAIA Scholar Athletes for the winter 2023-24 sports season. The students were spread across five separate sports programs.

Thomas Viens, a Men's Wrestling athlete studying Computer Science from Green Cove Springs, was among those recognized.

Women's basketball led the way among Vikings, with 10 on the list. There were five from cheer, four from men's basketball, and three from dance and wrestling.

Pair make Phi Kappa Phil honor society  at UNF

BATON ROUGE, La.—The following people were recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines.

They were Samantha Hunter of Green Cove Springs and Latina Brewer, both from the University of North Florida.

They are among approximately 25,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter.

Oakleaf's Razmic makes Ohio's Provost's List

ATHENS, Ohio -- Ohio University University College student Kara Razmic of Jacksonville has been named to OHIO's Fall 2023 Provost's List.

At the end of each semester, Ohio University's undergraduate students are evaluated based on their GPA and hours to determine placement on the President's List, Dean's List or Provost's List.

The Provost's List recognition is shared with high-achieving, part-time undergraduate students who exemplify academic success. Qualifying students must possess a 3.5 or greater GPA and between 6 and 11.99 credit hours attempted for letter grades that are used to calculate GPA.
