GREEN COVE SPRINGS – In partnership with the United States District Court, Middle District of Florida and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, Green Cove Springs Junior High will host a naturalization ceremony on Friday, Aug. 19, from 11 a.m. to noon.
The ceremony will welcome 47 individuals from 32 countries as new U.S. citizens as they take the Oath of Allegiance in front of family, friends, faculty members and students. The Honorable Marcia Morales Howard, U.S. District Judge will administer the Oath.
Approximately 50 student leaders will be assisting with the naturalization ceremony and 100 students currently enrolled in Civics at Green Cove Springs Junior High will witness the process as audience members. Superintendent David Broskie and other elected officials will be in attendance as well for the event.
The ceremony will honor and recognize our newest U.S. Citizens and provide a real-world learning experience of welcoming immigrants into the country for our junior high students.
