Woman trying to hide from law arrested for setting fire
MIDDLEBURG – The Clay County Sheriff’s Office said a woman admitted to starting a fire at a friend’s house after she wouldn’t let her and another man spend the night because they were running from law enforcement.
Angel Faith Fogarty, 27, of Middleburg, was charged with arson and burglary on Nov. 3 after a woman from the 2400 block of Lakespur Drive said Fogarty and a man said they needed a place to stay on Oct. 2 to avoid being caught by the police. She refused and called the sheriff’s office. Moments later, she noticed her garage was on fire. The home eventually became fully engulfed by flames.
According to CCSO, Fogarty said she went into the garage “to light something on fire.”
Her bond was set at $577,008.
