GREEN COVE SPRINGS – Challenge Enterprises and Winn-Dixie have partnered for the Community Bag Program.
“We are thrilled to have been chosen as the recipient of this support from Winn-Dixie’s Community Bag Program,” said Nancy C. Keating, Executive Director of Challenge Enterprises. The Community Bag Program was founded in February 2019 and was designed to provide shoppers a way to give back to their community while supporting the environment.
During July, shoppers can donate to Challenge Enterprises by purchasing a $2.99 community bag at any register or at the reusable community bag rack at the Winn-Dixie at 3260 U.S. Highway 17. The community bags are 95% made from recycled material from either nonwoven or woven polypropylene making the bags durable and reusable for future purchases.
Challenge Enterprises will receive a $1 donation for every bag that is purchased.
“This donation will greatly assist us in fulfilling our mission to empower individuals with disabilities, allowing them to lead productive and rewarding lives,” Keating said.
Since 1972, Challenge Enterprises has helped impact the lives of individuals living with disabilities. Its mission is to promote the power of people and possibilities for those living with disabilities. Through their programs and services such as Club Challenge, residential services, life skill training, and employment opportunities, the nonprofit organization has helped people become successful and independent in life.
Lastly, through the Community Bag Program, more than $450,000 of donations have been donated to over 8,300 local nonprofits since its launch. Shoppers buying a community bag at a Winn-Dixies have helped support various local nonprofit organizations whose focus is on education, civic, health and wellness, hunger, military and disaster relief.
